Build reading comprehension students actually want to do
Escaply turns reading practice into an interactive story - where students don’t just read the words, they become part of what happens next.

Reading is declining - across the world
In the most recent global PISA study (2022), reading performance fell by 10 points - twice the previous record and the steepest decline in the survey’s history. And it isn’t only the pandemic: reading scores had been sliding for a decade before 2020.
Today, around one in four 15-year-olds across OECD countries is a low performer - likely to struggle with interpreting even straightforward texts. Behind the numbers is a familiar classroom reality: not every student finds reading meaningful, and the ones who struggle most disengage first.
Sources: OECD (2023), PISA 2022 Results (Volume I) - reading fell 10 points vs 2018, the largest drop in PISA history. ~25% of 15-year-olds across OECD countries are low performers in reading.
When the story pulls you forward, you keep reading
In Escaply, a text isn’t a worksheet - it’s the path through an adventure. Students read to understand what happens next, answer questions to unlock the next room, and stay with a text far longer because they’re inside the story, not outside it.
Because progress depends on understanding - not guessing - students can’t skim their way through. And it takes about five minutes for a teacher to turn an existing text into an interactive reading adventure.

Teacher · name & role to confirm“When students work on reading comprehension with Escaply, they approach the texts with completely different motivation. They don’t just see the words - they become part of the story.”
Reading sticks when it means something. Research on narrative memory shows that information embedded in a story is recalled more reliably than isolated facts - which is exactly how Escaply frames every text.
